IMPORTANT INFORMATION - PLEASE READ!
All interns staying for 2 to 4 weeks will have 5 days of Spanish classes. However, interns staying for additional weeks/months will take additional Spanish classes. For example, an intern staying for 3 months will typically take 3 weeks of classes (15 days) and will normally complete all classes in the first month of their stay. Since the number of classes depends on the length of stay, our pricing DOES NOT include these additional classes. Please add an additional $130/week for additional Spanish classes.
After first month at $1450 add:

The internship fee is all-inclusive, and it covers all of your necessary expenses through your time here. The only additional money you may want to bring is for personal expenses, such as toiletries, shopping, eating in restaurants (outside of what’s covered in your food plan), and non-Meltdown Ministries’ outings - obviously, the amount depends on your habits.

What is included in your internship/short term team member monthly fees:
1. Housing - private room (If room is shared, we will advise you ahead of time). All housing will be walking distance from the San Blas Plaza (where our ministry is located) and from the main Plaza de Armas.
2. All meals – all meals will be arranged and we can take into consideration special dietary needs (within reason). For any meals you need to eat out you will be given a stipend. This also includes a few extra outings a week (with our team) for coffee, meetings, etc. We also have drinking water to refill bottles.
3. Any ministry you do with us including transportation, materials, etc.
4. Access to internet (if you have a laptop) and phone (you need to buy your own phone cards).
5. A trip to Machu Picchu, one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
6. Tours/Adventure Trips – We've added in occasional adventure trips and tours depending on the amount of time you’re here. Any team outings are also included. These are all inclusive.
7. One week of Spanish School per month that you’re here (Usually for a maximum of 3 weeks. If you require more, we can adjust pricing. See above.) If you are here less than a month, you will still have one week of classes. This will include 3-4 hours of study per day (5 days a week) of both classroom and practical with a trained native Spanish speaker at a school here in Cusco. You will be placed based on your skill level. Individuals here for a week or less will not typically have Spanish classes and they are not included in the pricing.
Note: The program fee covers your basic meals - breakfast, lunch and dinner - for the entire duration of the program. However, you may wish to bring some additional money to cover extra food and drinks, such as ice cream, snacks, coffee, etc. If you are particular about your eating habits, make sure you have extra money for food.
Remember that the following items are not included in your internship costs:
- special bottled drinks apart from meals (i.e. Gatorade, bottled water, sodas)
- any travel outside of planned ministry activities (i.e. self planned/extra excursions)
- costs of communication to home (phone cards, internet in town)
- airfare/travel to/from Cusco
- medical insurance
From our experience, the typical team member spends approximately $25US extra per week excluding purchases of clothing and gifts.
PAYMENT: For those volunteering/interning for 1 to 4 weeks, your entire stay must be paid upon arrival. Everything should be paid in US dollars. For those staying for only a week, we need $220 sent to us ahead of time to secure your spot to go to Machu Picchu. E-mail us to arrange to have this money sent to us at joel@meltdownministries.org. For those staying longer than a month, additional weeks/months are due at the beginning of each month (within the first 3 days). Any exceptions need to be cleared with us ahead of time. For both your initial fee and any subsequent weeks/months, we ask you pay us here (in Cusco) in US dollars as wired money incurs extra costs. Interns and Team Members can take money out at ATMs here in Cusco in US dollars.
